Creating the perfect branding for your photography business

Create a brand around your uniqueness

This is the third lesson in the free course to create a photography website that gets you bookings.

lesson 1: prepare for success

lesson 2: attract your visitor within the first second he arrives on your page

So you found your images, and your tagline. Now you want to see if your brand (colors, design, font, letterheads, logo, etc) reflects that.

So how do you do that. Start by reading the 5 branding photography mistakes first and take it from there.

If you are all about out of focus images of pastel colored brides, maybe a black, sharp lined brand is not really your thing. That example was pretty easy to determine, but you get my drift. What is the impression that your website should make, besides text and your work?

And how can you come up with all these things for yourself?

Luckily I just finished reading the internet :-) so here are some absolute great articles for you to get started.

Photography Spark wrote an article on how to discover your identity with branding tips for photographers.

And The Photography Concentrate wrote a great article about finding the right colors for your brand. It’s perfect.

You really have to check it out, so you learn how to create cool things like this:

Branding your photography business

Now find a WordPress theme that you think will look great in these colors and that is a perfect match with the impression that you want to give your clients about you.

Almost every WordPress theme can be easily tweaked with your color scheme. And if you have the perfect theme and the colors are hard coded, find someone on Odesk to change the codes for you.

You probably thought you were ready right there. But did you know you actually have multiple online pages that represent your business?

Wach this:

That’s right, everywhere you are you want your branding to come across, so it’s consistent and your customers feel at home once they recognize your colors. Zach and Jody wrote a great post about brand consistency and of course, they are leading by being a very good example!

To make it easy to customize every online tool you have to your own colors make sure you have them handy and nearby. I have all the colors that ShootZilla uses in the color picker of my Mac so it’s easy to find the hex codes for all the colors. Whenever I have to sign up somewhere and have to add my brand colors, they are never far away. I happens more often than you think!
